FEBRUARY SESSION
The Six Modalities of Communication - This deepening of the concept of three polarities in our engagement with the world will guide you, both through movement and conceptualization, to a deeper understanding of the connection between fundamental physical, psychological and vocal gestures and their corresponding emotions.
Everyone in daily life subconsciously uses these gestures. By becoming aware of these modalities, we can navigate our various roles in life with greater ease and freedom. In the second part of the course, we will continue to build on this concept, explore and experiment with examples you create after the first course, and share questions. We may also examine gestures that support sound articulation in children, helping you develop meaningful gestures for your own verses.
MARCH SESSIONS
An introduction to Sound Informed Movement (SIM), a method for optimizing movement through speech.
Sound Informed Movement (SIM) reveals the living connection between speech and movement. Each sound begins as a movement-gesture within us, echoing the same patterns we use to walk, reach, lift, and breathe. When we speak with intention, these inner gestures illuminate and harmonize the body’s larger movements.
Rooted in both Creative Speech, ATS and contemporary embodiment research, SIM allows sound to guide us into balance and fluidity. Speech becomes a subtle teacher, awakening alignment, strengthening coordination, and restoring a sense of wholeness.
SIM is movement informed by sound, and sound enlivened by the whole human being.
